Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She is the author of fifteen books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, as well as the proprietor of the independently open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family when she was the age of 16. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Following graduation, she left her name as a conservative syndicated columnist and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed a voice-based website that gave critical opinions regarding the state of affairs. The fame of her name helped to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna became famous in 2003 as she stood for California's recall election, to succeed Governor Davis. The project she headed was the Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes identified her as the most influential woman in media in 2009. Her ranking was in the 12th spot on Forbes' list. The Guardian also included her to the list of 100 most influential media in 2009. In 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made the president of that media unit, which comprised of many at the time-current AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos, a management and journalism consultant. Though she shared a close friendship with her mother and father but it was their connection that helped shape her. In her earliest years she showed leadership abilities which are still widely admired. When she was 16 she relocated into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college in which she became the first woman to be elected the president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. Following her graduation, she worked as an editor of the critic's column and a television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
