Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born March 22, 1976. She has been awarded many accolades, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in the years 2006 and 2015 and Forbes listed her as one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Forbes named her the world's richest actress with an estimated fortune of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career as a teenagerand made her film debut with The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, Witherspoon made her breakthrough with the part of a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for her portrayal of Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) led to her being recognized more widely. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a slump in her career where her sole box-office success was the romantic drama Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback with the production and role of Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014) and resulted in her being nominated for a second time for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Witherspoon has continued to work mostly on television and produced and starred in many adaptations of literary written by women under the name Hello Sunshine. This includes Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show as the Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The first, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series. She has also produced the film adaptations of Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon is also the owner of a clothing company, Draper James, and she is active in women's and children's advocacy groups. She sits on the Children's Defense Fund's Board and was honoured to be the chairperson of the Avon Foundation's foundation's charitable cause for women in 2007.
